2026 Annual Theme – SAYING YES to Living in Covenant with the Living God

Throughout the history of God and mankind, it has been God’s way of doing things that whenever He wants to walk closely with people, that He always establishes a covenant with those people first. The covenant outlines the how and the what of what God wants to do for and through His people. The covenant specifies God’s requirements, His promises and man’s responsibility. This was true of Adam, of Noah, of Abraham and of Israel.

It’s also true of the church today. We are living under the New Covenant established through the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ and brought into effect by the Holy Spirit. This new covenant, like the covenants of old, is the basis of our relationship with God. The bible describes it as superior to ever other covenant before it in every way because it is founded on better promises.

Yet when we look at the lives of most Christians, we soon realise that much of what the new covenant promises is far from the reality in the everyday lives of God’s people. Why is this? Has God changed? Has He become unfaithful? Far from it! The reason is that very few believers understand what the new covenant is all about and many live in contradiction to it.

If the individual believer and the church in general understand what they have been gifted by God through the agency of the new covenant, they will never be the same again. The daily defeat by sin, by the flesh, by the world and by the enemy will become a thing of the past.

This is what we want to achieve this year – understanding God’s covenant and embracing it as the means to see God as alive and living in the lives of His people.
